From July we will again pay less for energy. The energy bill is reduced by € 75. Read how you can save up to € 375 on energy costs.
Energy bill down
Every six months the energy companies adjust their rates to the market. With falling oil and gas prices, energy rates will fall further in July. According to Pricewise, the energy bill drops on average by € 75 a year. The fall in the energy tariff in July will therefore be greater than at the beginning of this year.
Variable or fixed energy contract?
Households with a variable energy contract benefit directly from falling energy prices. However, in many cases households with a fixed energy contract (1 or 3 years) stay out cheaper. However, the difference is getting smaller. Calculate based on your consumption what is advantageous for you.
Lowest energy rate and discount
Critical consumers can save even more. By regularly comparing the energy rates, you know that you are still comfortable with your current provider. In addition, energy companies often offer a welcome discount for new and existing customers who (re) record their energy contract. This discount can be up to € 295.
Save up to € 375 per year
By switching, households can save up to € 375 on their energy bill, according to the Consumer and Market Authority. It is not for nothing that the Netherlands has the most ‘switchers’ in Europe. In 2015, 15.1% switched to a different energy supplier. The European average was 6% last year. The price difference on green electricity is the largest: € 133 between the highest and lowest rates.
Is switching worthwhile?
The Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets concludes its report with the conclusion that there is ‘a lot to choose’ for energy consumers. Yet the majority of households remain with their current energy supplier. 80% of the respondents say that they are satisfied with their current provider. They also want to gain a minimum of € 185 before switching. Calculating or transferring is worthwhile for you.
